Every Firefly Nail set ships with 10 tips across four sizes — XS through L. Take two minutes to size up before you press them on. A good fit is the difference between a Tuesday manicure and a Friday one.
Open the kraft sleeve and line up all 10 tips in a row. You'll see they're labelled XS through L on the back of each card. Don't throw away the wrong-size tips yet — you can use them for toes.
A printed sizing card is in every box.The tip should cover your nail bed side-to-side without touching your cuticle or the side walls. If it covers everything with a small gap on each side — perfect. If it overlaps your cuticle or hangs over the side — size down.
Most people need 2–3 different sizes across 10 nails.Pinkies almost always wear XS or S. Ring and index fingers usually match. Thumbs are typically M or L — most people are surprised by their thumb size.
Take a photo of the matched-up layout — you'll want it during application.If a tip is one millimetre too wide, file each side at a 45° angle until it sits flush against your nail walls. Our ABS tips file cleanly — don't snap them. If a tip is one millimetre too narrow, size up.
Always file in one direction, not back-and-forth.Use the included 24 adhesive gel tabs for a one-day wear. Perfect for trying a new look before committing, or for a single event where you'll remove them at the end of the night.
Use the mini tube of brush-on liquid glue for up to two weeks of wear. Shower, sleep, type — they stay on. Removal takes 10 minutes of acetone soak.
Use the included prep wipe to remove all oils from your natural nail. Wait 30 seconds before pressing on. This is the single biggest reason press-ons lift early.
After positioning each tip, press down firmly with your thumb for 30 full seconds. The heat and pressure activate the adhesive. Skip this and you'll have a lift by day three.
Don't wash your hands or shower for the first hour after application. The adhesive needs that time to fully cure. After that — go live your life.
Most people fall between sizes. If you're between XS and S, size down — you can always file the sides for a custom fit. If you're between S and M, file the M down rather than sizing up, because too-wide tips catch on things and lift early.
Yes — every Firefly Nail set can be re-worn up to three times if you remove it gently (acetone soak for liquid glue, or just peel for gel tabs). After three wears the paint will start to show wear, especially on the dominant hand.
No — press-ons are gentler than gels or acrylics because there's no acetone-soak removal of cured polish, no filing of your natural nail, and no UV light. The adhesive sits on top of your nail and peels off cleanly. If you prep correctly (light buff, no cuticle pushing within 24h of application), your nails stay healthy underneath.
Our tips are made of ABS plastic, which flexes slightly with heat. Run warm water over the back of the tip for 10 seconds before pressing on — it'll conform to your natural curve. If your nails are extremely curved (like a ski jump), message us and we'll send a custom-set of curved tips at no charge.
The base coat is UV-cured gel (longer wear). The decorative paint on top is regular polish, hand-applied — which is why each set is unique. Final top coat is gel. To re-wear, peel off and store in the kraft sleeve; don't soak in acetone between wears or you'll dissolve the decorative paint.
